Northeast Monsoon ended on a surplus note for all subdivisions with a few regions even witnessing large excess rainfall during that period. The last few days of the month of December turned out to be a bumper few ones wherein hefty showers were seen over many parts including the capital city Chennai.
Since the departure of Northeast Monsoon, the state of Tamil Nadu has stayed away from getting good rains. The last 24 hours had a similar stance with just about trace of rainfall.
At present, a Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over Southwest Bay of Bengal. Along with this, easterlies and northeasterly winds are blowing over the state of Tamil Nadu, particularly the coastal regions.
Therefore, light rainfall activity in Tamil Nadu is expected to continue for at least three days or so. These showers will be confined to remaining light in nature. Coastal parts including Chennai, Puducherry, Karaikal, Cuddalore will see rainfall activities during this period.
