Rains have once again reduced over the state of Karnataka. As on October 22, Coastal Karnataka is the only region in Karnataka which is surplus by 5 percent. North Interior Karnataka is rain deficient by 55% and South Interior Karnataka is rain deficient by 12%.

Talking about day temperatures, over most parts of Karnataka maximums are above normal by 2-3 degree-Celsius. Isolated pockets of Coastal Karnataka are above normal by 5-6 degree-Celsius. Whereas, minimums are below normal by 2-3 degree-Celsius over the entire state.

The Southwest Monsoon 2018 for North Interior Karnataka ended on a deficit note of 29% and the trend is continuing.

As per Skymet, a trough is expected to develop from Madhya Maharashtra to North interior Karnataka. Therefore, we can expect scattered light to moderate rains to occur over North interior Karnataka, but rains will remain subdued over Coastal and South interior Karnataka.

These scattered rains are expected around 24 and 25 October. Post this, the weather will once again become dry. During the period of rains, there can be a marginal drop in day temperatures over northern parts of Karnataka, particularly North Interior Karnataka. Thereafter, the temperatures are expected to rise marginally.
