Light rains in Kolkata, parts of West Bengal to continue, Monsoon to come soon

On an off rains have been occurring over West Bengal as well as the state capital, Kolkata. In the past 24 hours, Alipore observatory of Kolkata recorded 12 mm of rain. In the same time frame from 8:30 am on Monday, Midnapore recorded 11 mm of rain, Bankura 3.7 mm, Burdwan 1 mm and Sriniketan 0.7 mm of rains.

Southwest Monsoon has yet not made an onset over entire West Bengal. Though, conditions are becoming favourable for the further advancement of Monsoon over Kolkata and West Bengal during the next four to five days.

Until the onset of Monsoon, light rains are likely to continue over parts of West Bengal. In fact, the city of joy Kolkata will also record light pre-Monsoon rains during the next three days. The pre-Monsoon rains would be patchy in nature and would occur for a short duration. The weather conditions would be warm and humid. The maximum temperatures are likely to settle between 36°C and 37°C and the minimum temperatures would range between 27°C to 28°C.

As per weathermen, the intensity of rain is expected to increase around June 9 over parts of West Bengal. Moderate showers with one of two heavy spells would make an appearance over Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata. Remaining districts of West Bengal will also witness few good spells of rain after June 9. In fact, during that time, both the temperatures are expected to subside by two to three degrees.
