Bengaluru Rain

The Silicon city of India was battered with hefty rainfall on August 14. These showers of 129 mm left the city water-logged and inundated. Prior to these rains, traces along with light spells were observed by Bengaluru. There were two occasions, August 9 and 12 that moderate showers made an appearance over the garden city.

Since last 2 days, moderate spells occurred over the city. In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Bengaluru recorded a good 26 mm rainfall.

These rains can be attributed to a north south trough that is extending from Telangana to Coastal Tamil Nadu.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, now the rain intensity will reduce further and as a result light rains will continue over Bengaluru. Due to strong westerly winds, the weather will remain pleasant over the region.

Meanwhile, Coastal Karnataka may receive moderate rains in wake of a cyclonic circulation that lies over east central Arabian Sea close to the Karnataka Coast. Whereas southern areas of Karnataka will record light showers and rains are likely to increase after 24 hours over North Karnataka.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, the other districts of Karnataka that witnessed rains include Mandya 38 mm, Agumbe 23 mm, Honavar 16 mm, Madikeri 11 mm, Ballari 7 mm, Vijayapura 3 mm and Karwar 3 mm.
