Light rains for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh during next 24 hours

September 16, 2016 5:15 PM | Skymet Weather Team

During the last few days, Monsoon seemed to be active over Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Most parts of the states have received widespread light to moderate showers, with few places recording heavy rains as well.

These good rains can be attributed to the low-pressure area which initiated from west-central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh Coast and has then moved in a westward direction towards Telangana.

Now this low-pressure area has become less marked, however the associated cyclonic circulation still persists over the region. As the system is likely to move further west, in wake of this, intensity of rains will increase over Maharashtra while it will reduce considerably over Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

So during the next 24 hours, Skymet Weather predicts light to moderate rainfall to continue over Telangana and in the meantime scattered light rain will happen over Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

At present, the cumulative rainfall deficiency for Telangana stands at 1% and 9% for Coastal Andhra Pradesh. With this, we expect the rain surplus to move to more positive numbers. Thereafter, rain intensity is expected to reduce over the states and the weather will go dry with isolated localized rains.

In the last 24 hours, rainfall over various regions of the states: Kurnool 33 mm, Kakinada 21 mm, Hanamkonda 36 mm and Ramagundam 7.2 mm.
