Good Chennai rains have remained far away and the capital city of Tamil Nadu has only been able to record traces of rain to very light showers during the last one week. Before this, Chennai had recorded a few good spells of rainfall including a whopping 84 mm on July 9.

However, rains did take a backseat thereafter and only light showers have been occurring over the national capital. The last 24 hours were no different and only light rainfall activity was seen over the city.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, the Nungambakkam observatory in Chennai recorded a mere 3 mm of rainfall.

These weather conditions have been attributed to the previously formed depression which has now weakened into a low pressure area and now lies over the central parts of the country.

However, as per weathermen at Skymet Weather, the city of Chennai is expected to witness some light spells of rainfall today as well. These weather conditions will be attributed to the remnants of the weather system which will give some rains.

However, these weather conditions will not persist for long and Chennai will once again become dry and humid from tomorrow.
