Updated on March 19, 2016 01:15 PM (IST): Light rains approaching Kerala and Coastal Karnataka

After remaining dry for last few days, light rain and thundershowers are approaching parts of Kerala and Coastal Karnataka.

According to Skymet Weather, a north-south trough that has been running from a cyclonic circulation over Vidarbha up to South Tamil Nadu has now shifted towards the West Coast. This trough is now reaching up to Kerala across Coastal Karnataka.

Intensity and spread will be confined to light and isolated places only. The activity will continue for next 24 hours, reducing thereafter. But showers at one or two places are still expected to continue.

The trough will become insignificant after next 48 hours and weather will once again go dry over the both the regions.
Maximum temperatures will settle in early 30s and people have to battle hot and humid weather conditions.

Though rains will take a back seat, but on and off thundershowers will continue due to the proximity to the coast. However, major activities will be ruled out for some time.

Pre-Monsoon rains will start making an appearance over the region during the March. However, pre-monsoon activity will pick up significantly during April.
