Light rain with one or two moderate spells to continue over Northeast India until Monsoon withdrawal

Northeast India Rains

The withdrawal of the Monsoon has already delayed from most parts of the country including Northeast India. And after much anticipation, withdrawal had finally commenced from Northwest India, however, it would take some more time for the monsoon to start withdrawing from northeastern states. Until then, on and off rains are expected to continue over entire Northeast India right from Assam to Tripura.

From last few days, moderate rains with one or two heavy spells have been going on over many parts of Assam and in some parts of Nagaland. During the last 24 hours as well, Assam, Mizoram, and Tripura witnessed good rainfall activities.

According to Skymet Weather, the Cyclonic Circulation that was persisting over South Bangladesh has shifted southwestwards over North Coastal Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal. Thus, the flow of humid winds from the Bay of Bengal has reduced and now we expect a significant reduction in the rainfall activity over entire Northeast India.

There would only be light rain with one or two moderate spells over Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura parts of Nagaland until the withdrawal of Monsoon.

The Southwest Monsoon ended on a deficient note for Northeast India and the post Monsoon season also didn't start on a good note, barring Assam and Meghalaya which are standing rain surplus at present, as per data from October 1 to 10.
