Light rain likely over Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh in next two days

Rain in MPDrizzle and cold winds may force residents of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh to wrap themselves as a cyclonic circulation forming in south Gujarat and North Maharashtra is expected to affect the weather in these areas in next 24-48 hours.

The system is likely to give light and widespread rain beginning from 10th February over parts of Maharashtra and Gujarat, then move eastwards and shower the parts of Vidarbha, Marathwada and Chhattisgarh on 11th February followed by light rain over Odisha on the 12th February.

The rainiest winter month, February, is known to experience rain in northern plains and snow in hilly region. However, due to the current cyclonic circulation, parts of Maharashtra are expected to receive light rain during this month.

As these parts witness rain, the minimum temperatures are expected to experience marginal drop and become normal which are currently above normal by 2-3°C. For instance, minimum in Nagpur is 17°C which is 3°C above normal, Yeotmal is 17°C which is 1°C above normal and Gwalior is 11°C which is 3°C above normal.

The previous cyclonic circulation that was prevailing over south Rajasthan and adjoining Madhya Pradesh and gave light rain in parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and east Uttar Pradesh is expected to clear completely in next 24 hours.
