For the past few days, Rajasthan has been observing dry weather conditions. Most pockets of the state have been recording temperatures way above the normal range. Unlike the other years, minimums, as well as maximums, have been on the higher side.
The region has remained practically dry for quite some time now. However, now, an induced cyclonic circulation is expected to develop over West Rajasthan and adjoining areas by January 12. This system is likely to result in light rain over some pockets of West Rajasthan.
Due to this system, minimum temperatures of Gujarat, Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh will witness a rise. South and Central Rajasthan may not receive rainfall, but clouding is likely over these areas around January 12.
This spell will be the first winter rain over Rajasthan and will be beneficial for restoring the soil moisture. By January 13, this system will move away in the easterly direction. After that, the weather conditions will clear up over Rajasthan.
Minimum temperatures may witness a drop by 1 to 2 degrees due to cold northwesterly winds. Usually, during this time, the minimums in some pockets even drop close to the freezing point. However, this year, there was only one instance on December 14, when the minimums dropped down to -0.4 degrees in Churu.
