Light rain in the offing for Gujarat

October 11, 2015 12:27 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Since the last week of September, Gujarat has remained mostly dry. The state has not received rain, which has further led to an increase in the temperatures. The residents of Gujarat have been reeling under hot weather conditions since the last few days and the temperatures have been recording in the higher 30s. Also, some districts have touched the 40 degree Celsius mark.

Normally, the month of October is termed as the second summer in Gujarat. During this period, skies clear up and dry weather continues for a longer period of time. Bright sunshine takes over and leads to soaring temperatures.

However, a temporary relief is in sight over coastal and southern parts of Gujarat. A deep depression over east-central Arabian Sea is expected to move in a north-north-west direction for some time before weakening into a depression and moving north-west.

Partly cloudy to cloudy sky conditions will be observed over southern parts of Gujarat, particularly over Valsad, Navsari, Surat, Bhavnagar, Amreli, and Junagad. Light rain is expected over these districts on October 11 and 12. This light precipitation may give the residents marginal relief from high temperatures.

Thereafter, on October 13, the system will move away and hot weather conditions will once again take a front seat.
