The state of Tamil Nadu has been witnessing light to moderate rains for the last 2-3 days which occurred after a long gap. Further, these rains are expected to continue over the state for at least another 48 hours.

The reason for these rains over Tamil Nadu can be attributed to the trough of low that is seen over the Comorin area and the adjoining equatorial Indian Ocean. Moreover, moderate winds from the Bay of Bengal are also reaching over the coastal parts of the state.
