Light rain in Tamil Nadu, cloudy sky to persist

November 19, 2017 11:41 AM | Skymet Weather Team

During the past week, the state of Tamil Nadu has received some showers of varied intensity. All thanks to a low pressure area that persisted over Southwest Bay of Bengal, which later strengthened into a depression.

In the last 24 hours, light rain was observed over the interior districts of the state. Now, an upper air trough is seen over Southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka Coast. This system is disturbing the normal wind pattern over the southern parts of Tamil Nadu, leading to cloudy sky conditions.

Weathermen at Skymet Weather are of the view that warm and moist weather will continue to prevail over the region. Also, light rain and thundershowers may occur at some places over southern as well as Interior Tamil Nadu during the next 24 hours barring northern districts of the state. Thereafter, rains will mark a slight increase.

The maximum temperatures will settle between 30°C to 32°C over Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, the minimum temperatures will range between 25°C to 26°C. Day will continue to be warm and humid, with comfortable nights.

Right now, Northeast Monsoon is not active over the state and humid winds from Bay of Bengal continue to induce moisture over the coastal and interior regions, leading to some rain activity.
