The state of Gujarat has recorded some really good showers in the third as well as fourth week of July. Not only this, several parts of the state swamped with rains of varied intensity during the month of August as well. Due to this, Saurashtra and Kutch as well as Gujarat region are witnessing rain surplus of 37% and 21%, respectively.

However, as reiterated by Skymet Weather, rains have reduced significantly over many districts of the state during the last 24 hours. In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Idar witnessed 13 mm of rainfall, Vadodara 8 mm, Surat 3 mm, Bhuj 1 mm and Ahmedabad a mere 1 mm of rain.

This reduction in the rain activity can be attributed to the axis of Monsoon trough that has shifted to North India. These weather conditions are likely to continue for another 24 to 48 hours. Scattered rains will show up, particularly in the southern districts of the cultural state.

The weather will remain warm and humid leading to discomfort. Marginal increase in day as well as night temperatures is foreseen. Maximums will hover in the range of 32-35 degrees, while minimums will settle around 25-27 degrees.

Further, a cyclonic circulation is expected to develop over South Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas which will move in west direction towards Gujarat. This system is anticipated to induce into a low pressure area.

As a result we expect significant increase in rain activity from August 27 to 29. During that time few heavy to very heavy spells are possible over Gujarat region and parts of Saurashtra.
