Most parts of Madhya Pradesh remained rain deficient throughout this winter season. According to the rainfall data available with Skymet, West Madhya Pradesh between Jan 1 to Feb 28 was deficient by 51%, followed by East Madhya Pradesh 42%. On the other hand, a complete opposite scenario has been noticed for the state of Chhattisgarh. Due to excess rain, the state was surplus by 24% in the month of February.

In contrary to this, Pre-Monsoon season has started on a good note for Madhya Pradesh. At present, East Madhya Pradesh is rain surplus by 2%, while West Madhya Pradesh is surplus by a whopping 63%.

However, the season has started on a poor note for Chhattisgarh as it has been observing rain deficiency of 22%, since the beginning of March.

According to Skymet Weather, in the absence of any significant weather system across Madhya Pradesh or Chhattisgarh, we expect weather to remain completely dry for at least next four days.

However around March 11, a trough is expected to develop over East Madhya Pradesh, which will extend up to Rayalaseema across Chhattisgarh and Telangana. This system will result in scattered rain and thundershower activity over East Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Chhattisgarh.

On March 13 or 14, another feeble trough is expected to form over Northeast Madhya Pradesh, which will extend up to South Chhattisgarh. Thus, we can expect light rain at few places over eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Chhattisgarh.

Places like, Sidhi, Satna, Umaria, Jabalapur, Mandla, Raipur, Durg, Nandgaon will witness rain and thundershower activities during this period.

In wake of all these activities, we expect minimums to rise significantly, while maximums will show a marginal increase in both the states.
