Light rain in Rajasthan likely, but no relief from hot weather

In the post Monsoon season, state of Rajasthan has hardly experienced any rain. Both, East and West Rajasthan are almost dry and warm. In fact, it is the second summer season for the state.

Talking about figures, then West Rajasthan is rain deficit by 94% and East Rajasthan is short by 92%. The monthly average rainfall for Rajasthan for the month of October has also reduced significantly. Factually, parts of Rajasthan, i.e. northern and central Rajasthan usually receive rain because of active Western Disturbances over that region which induces Cyclonic Circulation over North Rajasthan and its adjoining areas.

On the contrary, until and unless there is any significant weather activity taking place in Southeast Arabian sea, the southern part of Rajasthan will continue to remain dry and warm. Currently, a Western Disturbance is moving across Jammu and Kashmir and it has induced a Cyclonic Circulation over North Rajasthan and its neighborhood areas. However, the Western Disturbance is not very active, and enough moisture is not available in the atmosphere. This weather system will only give isolated rain and thunderstorm activities in parts of North, Central and East Rajasthan.

There are chances of sky becoming cloudy to partly cloudy and day temperatures may fall by 2-3 degree- Celsius in few parts. However, the relief will be short lived. Post October 18, weather will once again become very warm and dry. The maximums are in higher 30s with very hot afternoons. On Tuesday, places like Churu and Barmer recorded 38 degree-Celsius, Jaisalmer and Ganganagar recorded 37 degree- Celsius and Phalodi  recorded 39 degree- Celsius.

Whereas, minimums are still comfortable with Jaisalmer recording minimum at 22 degree- Celsius, Ganganagar at 18 degree-Celsius, Sikar at 16 degree-Celsius and Churu at 14 degree-Celsius. This clearly indicates large diurnal variation in temperature.

It is expected that in the coming few days, minimums might fall further but drop in maximums would be marginal. However, winters will set in from the month of November only then day temperatures will also start dropping.
