After experiencing a prolonged dry spell for almost one month, the state of Telangana received light rain showers on December 4 and 5, especially over the southern districts of the state. In fact, the capital city, Hyderabad also recorded scattered light rainfall activity after a long-awaited period.
However, as of now the overall performance of Northeast Monsoon season over the Telangana region is very poor. The state is largely rain deficient by 84%. Moreover, in November, it has received 40.8 mm of rain against its normal of 121.2 mm.
At present, the easterly wave is strengthening across the Southern Peninsula and a low-pressure area is also expected to form over Coastal Sri Lanka and adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal shortly.
However, due to the above-mentioned weather systems, Telangana is not going to get effect as such. But today we expect isolated rainfall activity over few parts of South Telangana. Otherwise mainly dry weather conditions will continue with partly cloudy to cloudy sky.
Talking about the temperatures over Telangana, at present both day and night temperatures over the state are settling close to normal. Further also we expect both maximum and minimum temperatures to remain close to normal, as no change is expected.
