Light rain in offing for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh

February 10, 2017 4:22 PM | Skymet Weather Team

After the light rainy spell on January 26 most parts of Central and East India remained dry. Due to prolonged dry weather persisting over the Central India, areas like Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, are witnessing more than the normal temperatures. But with some weather activity in store, the mercury is most likely to shift gears.

At present a trough from North Interior Karnataka to Central Madhya Pradesh has formed. This trough is passing via Marathwada and Vidarbha. Gradually, this trough will become more marked by tomorrow. With humid winds from southwest directions, humidity level over East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh including Telangana and Vidarbha is likely to rise.

Weather of Telangana and Vidarbha will become sultry due to high temperatures and humidity but many parts of East Madhya Pradesh, North Chhattisgarh and adjoining Southeast Uttar Pradesh, are expected to get scattered rains.

During this period of year, the formation of convective clouds is common. So we expect hailstorm activity to increase in some areas. This hail activity is likely to damage Rabi Crop but substantial damage cannot be expected due to the limited span of this hail storm. However, isolated rains will be beneficial for the crops.

Due to this rainy spell, maximum temperature may fall and minimum temperature may rise by 1-2°C. This rise will be due to cloud cover and humidity persisting over the area.
