These rains were due to the depression which was seen moving along the East Coast towards Gangetic West Bengal. This system had weakened into a well-marked low pressure area during the last 24 hours. In fact, it became less marked over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining parts of Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha. With this, the rains have reduced over Kolkata.
Now an upper air cyclonic circulation persists over the region. This system will weaken in the next 24 hours and for now, this weather system is providing warm and moist winds over the city of dreams.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, cloudy to partly cloudy sky conditions will prevail along with high humidity. Light rain is also expected over some parts of the city during the next 24 hours. Thereafter, clouding will start decreasing and gradually dry weather will seek in over Kolkata.
Significant decrease in day temperatures is likely along with reduction in humidity levels after 24 hours. Days will remain comfortable, but the city being near the coastline, will have pleasant nights.
