The states of Kerala and Karnataka have been experiencing dry weather since the last few days. However, during the last 24 hours, both the states observed light rainfall activity in pockets. In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Kochi recorded 5 mm of rain, followed by Kannur 2 mm.
Now, the cyclonic circulation that lies over Southcentral Bay of Bengal is seen moving close to the region gradually. However, it still lies far off from the area. In fact, another trough is seen extending from Southeast Arabian Sea to Telangana region as an upper air system.
At present, the above weather systems are far off these states, therefore, during the next 24 hours no major weather activity is expected over Kerala and Karnataka. Meanwhile, light rainfall activity in few coastal stations of Kerala and South Karnataka cannot be ruled out.
Further, in the subsequent 24 hours, rains are expected to increase gradually and in the coming two to three days, we expect good rains to occur over most parts of Kerala and Karnataka.
Temperatures will remain marginally above normal over the coastal districts, with slightly warm and humid day conditions will prevail. Meanwhile, mornings are expected to remain comfortable and breezy. Moreover, sky conditions will remain partly cloudy to cloudy.
Dry weather conditions will persist over North Karnataka. Minimum temperatures are also expected to drop marginally over these areas. Furthermore, during the time of rains i.e. after 24 hours, significant drop in day temperatures will be observed over Kerala and Karnataka.
