The state of Rajasthan remained more or less dry since the beginning of the month of August. On few occasions do the parts of the state witnessed rainy spells in particular southeast districts.
In wake of a low pressure area over North Madhya Maharashtra and adjoining areas, light to moderate rains were observed over southern districts of Rajasthan in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, the remaining parts of the state witnessed dry weather conditions.

In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday, Pali recorded rainfall to the tune of 10 mm, Chittorgarh 5 mm, Jodhpur 1 mm and Udaipur 1 mm.
As humid winds are reaching up to central parts of the country, therefore weathermen at Skymet Weather expect scattered rains to continue over southern and central districts such as Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Kota and Ajmer. On the other hand, western parts of the state like Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Churu and Jaisalmer will remain almost dry.

Jaipur may also see scattered rains for the next few days. We expect rain intensity to increase by the month end and from August 27 onward, light to moderate rains are expected over southeast, east and central parts of Rajasthan.
As on August 20, the rainfall sub divisional distribution statistics shows that West Rajasthan is rain surplus by 61%, whereas East Rajasthan by 1%.
