Light rain in Indore, Bhopal; Durg, Jagdalpur, Sagar, Damoh to get good rains

Southwest Monsoon marked an on-time arrival over the state of Chhattisgarh on June 8. The Monsoon progressed further into some more parts of South Chhattisgarh today.

However, the central most state of Madhya Pradesh still waits for Monsoon which is anticipated to make a delayed onset. The normal date of Monsoon onset over Madhya Pradesh is between June 10 and 15 but this year, it is expected to make a delayed arrival by good 6-7 days.

As per Skymet Weather, conditions are conducive to cover some more areas of Chhattisgarh during the next 48 hours. Thereafter, due to the weakling of Monsoon flow, no further advance of Southwest Monsoon is expected.

However, rains are expected to continue over some parts of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh for another two to three days. On the past day also, scattered light to moderate rains was recorded in some parts of Madhya Pradesh along light to isolated moderate showers over a few regions in Chhattisgarh.

Within the span of 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Sunday, Rewa recorded 34 mm of rains, Pendra 31 mm, Jabalpur 14 mm, Raisen 14 mm, Chhindwara 9 mm, Shajapur 8 mm Pachmarhi 5 mm, Narsinghpur 3 mm, Sidhi 3 mm, Betul 2 mm, Indore 2 mm and Rajnandgaon also recorded 2 mm of light spells.

As per Skymet Weather, the Depression which was over the Bay of Bengal has crossed Bangladesh and now lies as a well-marked low-pressure area over Tripura and adjoining regions. A trough is extending from this well-marked low to Andhra Pradesh across Odisha, South Chhattisgarh, and Telangana.

In the wake of this, moderate to heavy rains are expected to continue over South Chhattisgarh in regions like Rajnandgaon, Jagdalpur, and Durg. Along with this, light to moderate rains is expected to continue over the remaining regions of Chhattisgarh and parts of East Madhya Pradesh like over Pendra, Rewa, Satna, Umaria, Bilaspur, Sagar, and Damoh.

Parts of Southwest Madhya Pradesh like Betul, Seoni, Khandwa, and Hoshangabad may also witness scattered rains. On the contrary, parts of East Madhya Pradesh, districts like Indore, Bhopal, Shajapur, and Khargone are likely to witness more or less dry weather conditions with possibilities of very light isolated rains.
