Light rain in Hyderabad to continue; good rains soon

Hyderabad has been recording on and off rains from at least a week now and thereafter taking a break of a day, some traces were witnessed by the city in the last 24 hours.

These rains resulted in plummeting the maximum temperatures that were settling above 30°C to a relaxing 29°C. These rains were mainly due to localized cloud development that was due to high humidity levels and the rains were in patches covering a smaller area.

In the last 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Rentachintala recorded 3 mm of rains, Adilabad 1 mm, Nizamabad 0.4 mm and Hyderabad witnessed some light traces of rains.

As of now, Skymet Weather predicts light rain to continue in parts of Telangana including Hyderabad for the next 24-48 hours. However, on August 18 and 19, few good spells of rains can occur. Thereafter, with a break of two days, the rain intensity may pace up once again and increase in parts of the state and Hyderabad around August 23-24.

These rains will mainly be due to cyclonic circulation which is expected to develop over the Odisha coast. This weather system is expected to move towards Vidarbha region across South Chhattisgarh and parts of Telangana. In the process of its traveling, it is anticipated to give good rains over Telangana including Hyderabad.

Hence, on and off good rains of varied intensity can be expected to continue during the next week. Until today, Hyderabad has already witnessed 60.5 mm of rains as against its monthly target of 207 mm.
