As the axis of Monsoon trough remains close to Delhi region, parts of Delhi including Palam, Safdarjung and Aya Nagar observed heavy rains during the last 24 hours.
While Palam received 42.7 mm rainfall, Ayanagar saw 20 mm, Ridge 5.6 mm and Safdarjung 7.8 mm.
The withdrawal of monsoon is near and will commence by mid-month. Despite the falling rains, Delhi is still rain deficient by 5%.
Major clearance would come after September 10, wherein wind pattern will undergo a change from humid to dry northwesterly. Besides this, we would see bright sunshine, leading to increasing temperatures. The only good news would be in terms of reduction in humidity.
Gradually we would start slipping into the withdrawal phase that would be possibly around September 20.
At present the axis of monsoon trough is moving across Anupgarh, Alwar, then towards Madhya Pradesh to Northeast Bay of Bengal, just South of Delhi.
However, rainfall activity will continue in patches over Delhi-NCR. We can expect short spelled intense showers or light rains during the next 24 hours. Day will be warm and humid with partly cloudy to cloudy sky.
