Weather in Delhi will be partly cloudy today due to the Western Disturbance affecting weather in Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining areas. The clouds will thin down by evening resulting in a marginal rise in minimum temperature, which settled at 18.9°C today morning.
A hot and dry weather saw temperatures rising to settle at 35.6°C at the Safdarjung Observatory while, Palam recorded 37.6°C as maximum. According to the latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, Delhi will not witness much change in day temperature today which could settle around 36°C.
There will be some relief for Delhiites as a fresh Western Disturbance (WD) is currently moving towards Jammu & Kashmir and is expected to bring in a period of clouds and thunderstorm in the city by late Sunday evening. The system would move north-eastwards and affect the western Himalayan region during the next 48 hours. Srinagar is overcast since morning and has received some light rain.
The Western Disturbance is likely to change the wind pattern in the northern plains. North westerly winds will be replaced by humid south easterly winds in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, west Uttar Pradesh and extend up to Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. These winds will lead to a rise in temperatures as the system moves out.
Night temperatures could rise and settle in early-twenties in the next 48 hours. Coupled with a rise in humidity levels, nights during the period of the Western Disturbance could be a little uncomfortable.
