The city of Chennai has been witnessing on and off rains for the last few days. In fact, some more rains are on cards for the capital city as well as other areas of Tamil Nadu in the coming days.

The reason for these showers can be given to a trough that is seen extending from Coastal Andhra Pradesh to South Tamil Nadu. This weather feature has increased the moisture levels over the region, leading to the development of thunderclouds.
