Currently, the ongoing Northeast Monsoon will affect the weather patterns over Chennai. Apart from that, no weather system is over Chennai. The depression which had given rains over Chennai is over Coastal Odisha and Andhra Pradesh and will move away weakening further.
Therefore, northeasterly winds will again start blowing over Chennai. This is a typical feature during Northeast Monsoon. Due to this, scattered light rains are expected over Chennai during the next 2 to 3 days. The good news is that now, for at least a week, heavy rains will not appear over Chennai due to the absence of any weather system in proximity of the region.
