From the past two days, the rain activities over Mumbai and
suburbs have increased. Low lying areas were waterlogged on Sunday.
During the last 24 hours, Santacruz recorded 29 mm and Colaba 57 mm of rain. These rain and thundershowers were well distributed throughout the day therefore we have not seen any significant traffic jams or water logging in Mumbai and suburbs during the last 24 hours.
Light rain activities are expected to continue over Mumbai and suburbs until August 1st. Thereafter there may be a significant increase in rain and shower activities. Moderate showers with one or two intense spells are expected between August 2nd and 5th over Mumbai and suburbs.
We do not expect extremely heavy rains between August 2nd and 5th over Mumbai and suburbs, but temperatures are expected to decrease and will be in higher twenties. These rain activities may lead to waterlogging in the low lying area of the city.
Skymet is giving heavy rain alert for Mumbai between August
2nd and 5th. We will keep updating about the latest weather scenario in our subsequent post.
