Mumbai weather has taken a U turn during the last few days and residents are not complaining at all. The maximum city has had a hot and humid May with only the end of the month witnessing a few spells of Pre-Monsoon showers.
Before this, weather conditions had remained dry with the city being rainless for a whopping seven months. It was only on May 13 that light rains had visited the maximum city. Thereafter also, rain gods did take a backseat and the city begun to observe warm and humid weather conditions.
Starting May 28, rain activity began to make special appearances over the maximum city. In fact, the rains that began with traces were converted into moderate spells of 8 mm on the first day of June. The change in weather conditions was on account of the onset of Southwest Monsoon over Kerala.
During the last 48 hours, the maximum city has been witnessing cloudy weather conditions. The last 24 hours have witnessed light rains with Santa Cruz witnessing 0.3 mm of rain withe Colaba observing 3 mm of rainfall.
Now, as per weathermen at Skymet, light rains are likely to continue over Mumbai and its adjoining areas. After 24-48 hours, rainfall intensity is expected to increase further. In just about a week, Southwest Monsoon will also announce its arrival over Mumbai.
