As per Skymet Weather, the reason for reduced rains over Mumbai can be associated with the weakening of the off shore trough persisting along the West Coast. This trough has become insignificant now and at present no other rain bearing weather system persists.

However, moderate winds from the Arabian Sea have been blowing over Coastal Maharashtra including Mumbai. On account of this, Mumbaikars will continue to witness some scattered light rains that will be patchy in nature. But, due to the absence of any significant weather system and the inactive offshore trough along the West Coast, widespread heavy falls are not anticipated for the next couple of days.

In the absence of good rains, the mercury level is also expected to shoot up and settle in mid-30. Due to the moisture incursion winds from the Arabian Sea, the humid and sultry weather will peak up. But, short term relief due to patchy rains can be expected.
