Mumbai weather has taken a slight turn during the last few days. So much so that the city has been witnessing some light Pre-Monsoon rainfall activity for at least two to three days. While these rains have been either in traces or less than a mm, Mumbaikars have been living by that something is better than nothing philosophy.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, while the Colaba observatory remained dry, the Santa Cruz observatory witnessed 0.2 mm of rain.
At present, a trough is running from Maharashtra coast to the Kerala coast. Due to this, moisture incursion has been taking place in the western coast. In fact, Panjim in Goa has recorded a whopping 141 mm of rainfall along with Ratnagiri recording 134 mm of rainfall.
As for Mumbai’s performance during the month of May, the city has only been able to receive a mere 3.6 mm of rainfall throughout the month which is quite less. The monthly average for the city amounts to 12.5 mm of rain. Unfortunately, the maximum city could not even witness rains in double digit.

As per weathermen at Skymet, light Pre-Monsoon rainfall activity is expected to continue over Mumbai and its adjoining areas for the next 2 to 3 days. Thereafter, the Pre-Monsoon activity is likely to pick up pace and Mumbaikars will be able to enjoy some good showers June 5 onward.
These good rains will continue until the arrival of Monsoon around June 10-11. Thereafter, Mumbaikars will enjoy those droplets of rain gifted by the most loved season, Monsoon.
