Mumbai rains have gone light and in the last 21 hours, only 5 mm of rain was recorded over the Santa Cruz Observatory. However, suburbs of the city managed to receive some moderate showers due to the formation of convective clouds.
According to our Weathermen, isolated light rains with some patchy intense showers would continue over the dream city and adjoining areas for another two days. Not much increase in the intensity of rain is anticipated at least for next two days.
It will be then around September 19, wherein the intensity would go up and moderate showers with one or two intense spells would return to the city. However, the showers would not be very heavy so as to result in severe waterlogging.
Post this episode, on and off light rains would continue and weather is not likely to go dry anytime soon.
In the last few days, Mumbai rains have not been severe, barring September 14, wherein a few heavy spells to the tune of 41 mm lashed the city. However, these spells were well distributed throughout the day and thus didn’t create much havoc. The city is likely to see more rainy days in the future.
Moreover, as Monsoon had arrived late this time, its withdrawal would also be delayed. In fact, rains may cover the first week of October as well.
