Monsoon Rains in Telangana

For the last many days, weather activity in Telangana has been minimal due to which the rainfall deficiency in the state is 33%. However, in the last four to five days, the northern districts of Telangana have been recording good rains particularly Nizamabad. This place has been witnessing intermittent rain and thundershowers since July 7 and in the last 24 hours, it has recorded 55 mm of rains.

Adilabad, and Ramagundam have also been receiving good rains since last one week. Intermittent rain and thundershowers are being witnessed in parts of Hyderabad as well. The weather activity is because of the confluence zone formed due to the amalgamation of dry northwesterly winds and humid southwesterly winds over Telangana and Vidarbha.

According to meteorologists at Skymet scattered rain and thundershowers would continue to be observed in parts of Telangana for the next two to three days, particularly in the northern districts. However, these rains will not be widespread. Monsoon rain in Telangana and its adjoining are is likely to revive around July 17 or July 18. However, during this period as well, the intensity will be light to moderate with patchy weather activities.

At present, we don’t see any system brewing in the Bay of Bengal for at least a week. Thus, significant weather activity over Telangana for some time seems to be ruled out.
