Light Monsoon rains to bless Jammu city for next 2 days

Rains have remained absent from Jammu from past 3-4 days. However, heavy Monsoon showers finally blessed the city on Sunday.

A Western Disturbance and an upper air system over east Jammu & Kashmir were affecting the weather over Jammu and Kashmir. Now, the system is moving away. During last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday, scattered rainfall has been observed over most parts of the state. During this time frame, Jammu has recorded a whopping 55 mm rainfall.

Another Western Disturbance is also likely to approach the Western Himalayas. The weather conditions of Jammu and Kashmir in next 24-48 hours are expected to remain partly cloudy to cloudy. Moreover, warm weather is also likely to remain over the state.

However, there are possibility of a few light showers over the state mainly towards afternoon or late evening. Pleasant weather conditions are also expected to persist over Jammu.

Monthly average rainfall for Jammu for the month of August is 370.2 mm. As on August, 15 till 08:30 am, Jammu has already recorded 244.9 mm showers. During last 10 years, Jammu has witnessed highest rainfall of 129.3 mm. This was recorded on August 25, 2012.

The second highest rainfall recorded for Jammu was 128 mm that was observed on August 7, this year. Now, only a few wet spells are expected to lash some parts of the state.
