Monsoon rains continue to drench Hyderabad city for the straight 11th consecutive day. Although August 3 had recorded heavy rains to the tune of 48 mm of rains, the intensity has remained light during the last 24 hours.

The city has recorded 3 mm of rains in span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday. In fact, the state capital has recorded light to very light rains since Sunday morning.

According to weathermen, a convergence zone has been prevailing over the city. Off-shore trough has been running along the West Coast, while a cyclonic circulation is marked over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal and Odisha. As a result, a zone has formed over Telangana.

With the cyclonic circulation getting more marked, we expect weather conditions would be conducive for more Monsoon rains and thundershowers over Hyderabad. Monsoon rains are here to stay for next three days. The intensity would be mainly light with few moderate spells in between.

The ongoing spell of rain has resulted in pleasant weather conditions over the city. Maximum temperatures have been settling below 30°C, while the minimum temperatures are around 20°C or 21°C.

Hyderabad has been witnessing normal Monsoon rains so far, with marginally deficiency of mere 6%. From June 1 to August 8, the city has recorded 282.2 mm of rains against the normal average of 300 mm.

With more rains in offing, we expect the city to overcome the rainfall deficiency and witness surplus rains.
