Ahmedabad has been receiving on and off Monsoon rains for quite some time now. While the rains have been patchy in nature, it sure has brought some relief from the ongoing weather conditions. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, the city recorded a mere 0.5 mm of rain.
Currently, southern parts of Ahmedabad have begun to receive rainfall. These rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which is over the Saurashtra region. Also, localized weather activity has also contributed to the prevailing weather conditions.
Now, during the next 24 hours, on and off light rain will continue over the city. However, weather will once again go dry for a short while. Thereafter, a good spell of rain is expected around July 22, which may bring some more rains to the city which remained parched during the month of June.
So far during the month of July, Ahmedabad has received 113.8 mm of rainfall against its monthly rainfall amount of 281.3 mm. Last year, good Monsoon rains were observed in Ahmedabad as the city received a whopping 317.5 mm of rainfall.
This year, with just 12 days to go and more than half the amount of rainfall left to cover, it seems unlikely that Ahmedabad will be able to reach its monthly rains.
