Light Monsoon rain in Mumbai, Nashik, Pune, dry weather in Nagpur, Parbhani

After giving good rains, Southwest Monsoon has become weak over Maharashtra. As a result, rains have reduced significantly barring one or two places. In fact, weathermen predict that Monsoon rains are not likely to revive during the next 24-48 hours as well.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Mahabaleshwar recorded 119 mm of rain, Nashik 23 mm, Harnai 37 mm, Alibag 20.6 mm, Vengurla 14 mm, Mumbai 3.8 mm, Kolhapur 3.2 mm, Pune 2.2 mm, Nagpur 1.6 mm and Chandrapur 1 mm.

According to Skymet Weather, with no major weather system in offing, Maharashtra is gearing up for dry weather conditions in the coming days. However, coastal region of Konkan & Goa will see light to moderate showers due to the presence of Monsoon surge but heavy rains are not expected. Mumbai would too see light rains only but continuous rains will remain absent.

For the next 24 hours, North Madhya Maharashtra will see some light to moderate rains over places like Ahmednagar, Dhule, Nashik, Thane, Jalgaon and Malegaon may see scattered rains. Pune and adjoining areas such as Nashik to see light rains but Nagpur, Jalna, Aurangabad, Nanded and Parbhani will remain dry.
