Mumbai is all set to witness light pre-Monsoon rain and thundershowers on Wednesday afternoon or evening. The city has also recorded traces of rain today early morning.
According to Skymet Weather, moist southwesterly winds from the Arabian Sea continue to blow over the city. Also, a feeble trough is running along the West Coast. Both the systems combined together will result in rain activity over the capital city.
However, rains will occur in patches and will not be of widespread nature. These on and off rains are likely to continue over Mumbai till May 30.
True to its characteristics, pre-Monsoon activity is likely to occur during late afternoon or evening hours or may be during the early morning. As reiterated by meteorologists, these showers are mainly triggered by heat.
Hence, as the temperature peaks in afternoon combined with moisture in the air leads to formation of thunder clouds, resulting in rain.
However, rains will not have any impact on the day temperatures as day maximums have already peaked by afternoon. But evenings and nights will be far more pleasant.
Mumbai weather has not only remained hot but it has also been as dry since March 5. Mumbaikar are eagerly awaiting rains to end the three-month long dry spell.
