Light drizzle to continue over West Bengal for next 48 hours

August 3, 2016 5:16 PM |

West Bengal post

A low pressure area has developed over North Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal.

Due to this, Gangetic West Bengal is likely to get moderate rains at many places. However, one or two heavy spells cannot be ruled out as well.

Rain intensity over Sub- Himalayan West Bengal has reduced significantly. However, Cooch Behar has still recorded a whopping 189.8 mm of rainfall during last 24 hours.

During last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, rainfall recorded in other districts of the state are displayed in the table below:

Gradually, this low pressure area is likely to intensify in to a well-marked low pressure area and move in a westerly direction. Probably two days henceforth, rain intensity will reduce over Gangetic West Bengal but light to moderate showers will continue to to lash the state for another 48 hours.

Districts in central region of the state are likely to witness scattered light rains. These regions primarily include Nadia, Diamond Harbour, Murshidabad, Malda and Dakshin Dinajpur. There are not much possibilities of heavy to very heavy spells but few moderate showers are still likely to bless Sub Himalayan West Bengal.
