Light Delhi rains to continue until weekend

September 18, 2023 6:06 PM |

Delhi and the NCR region have been recording rainfall for the past few days of varied intensity, remaining patchy in many parts with some areas also seeing heavy showers. During the last 24 hours, while the Palam observatory recorded 2 mm of rainfall, traces of rain were seen over the Safdarjung observatory.

Now also, we expect rainfall activity of lighter intensity to continue over Delhi in intervals until the weekend. The monsoon trough remains south of Delhi as the circulation of the low-pressure area is over Rajasthan and adjoining Gujarat region. For the next two days, it will remain south of its position. When the system moves away, the monsoon trough will once again oscillate towards the north. Thus, rains may continue until the weekend.

The normal date for Southwest Monsoon is September 25 over Delhi but the withdrawal date has to be in respect with the commencement of Monsoon withdrawal from Rajasthan, which has not yet taken place, which means a delayed one from the national capital is possible.
