Delhi rains have been playing hide and seek for quite a long time now. However, rains have finally made an appearance over Delhi-NCR.

The national capital along with adjoining areas of Gurugram, Noida and Faridabad saw light rain and thundershowers on Tuesday night. Intense lightning and thunderstorm were also reported at many places.

Now also, situation remains favourable for some more rain and thundershowers on Wednesday, although the intensity would be light only. Clouding could already be seen over most parts of Delhi-NCR.

This can be attributed to the passage of fresh Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and its induced cyclonic circulation over North Rajasthan and adjoining Punjab and Haryana.

Both the systems have also reversed the wind pattern from warm westerly winds to humid southeasterly winds. Now as the temperatures increase, it would trigger the formation of convective clouds over the region, giving rains and thundershowers.

Weather is likely to gradually clear up by tomorrow as the systems would move away eastwards.

The cloud cover has already increased the night temperatures as the city recorded minimum temperature at 21°C on Wednesday morning. However, day maximums which have reached to 36°C are most likely to witness a drop of 2-3 degrees on account of these approaching rains.

The last city had seen showers was on January 24 and has been practically dry for nearly two months now. Although weathermen had predicted some showers on couple of occasions but it narrowly escaped Delhi-NCR. The city only settled with clouding that had some impact of temperature profile, however, rains remained far and few.

February remained dry for the second consecutive year. As a result, day maximums kept soaring high and has been settling in mid 30s right from the first week of the March itself. Night temperatures have also been warmer than usual. Both the day and night temperatures have been settling appreciably above normal average by 4-5 degrees.
