Bihar has received fairly widespread rains during the last 24 hours, however, the state’s rain deficiency still stands at 8 percent as on July 6.
Now, if the indication of the weather model is to be trusted, the weather system does not seem to paint a very rosy picture for the state. Bihar may not receive much heavy rains for at least a week. However, on and off scattered rainfall will continue for next 4 to 5 days.
During last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, most pockets of the state have observed good rains. Bhagalpur recorded good showers of 51 mm, the capital city, Patna recorded 13.3 rainfall, Muzaffarpur observed 7.8 mm rain and Gaya observed mere 3.6 rainfall.
The reason for the decreasing rain intensity in the state can be attributed to the axis of Monsoon trough passing the southern part of Bihar which is pretty common during the ongoing time frame. This trough is expected to move northward. However, it will continue to pass from Uttar Pradesh and the eastern end may oscillate over Bihar and Jharkhand occasionally. This is the reason why the state might not expect good rainfall but the state would also not go completely dry.
