Lean And Weak Weather Activity For The Week Over North India

August 29, 2022 2:09 PM | Skymet Weather Team

The Hills and plains of North India will observe weak weather activity over the next one week. The last 3-4 days also have experienced mild and thin activity over most parts. Spot activity did show up at isolated places, especially along the lower hills. The sphere of seasonal showers will shrink further during the week. Parts of Rajasthan which witnessed a flurry of monsoon bursts last week will be devoid of any such repeat.

A weak western disturbance is moving across the mountains, manifesting as cyclonic circulation and trough in the low and medium levels.  Another cyclonic circulation still persists over Southeast Pakistan and the bordering areas of Rajasthan. This feature is still  pushing moisture with southwesterly winds from the Arabian Sea. Monsoon trough over the surface and lower levels is running all along the foothills, north of its normal position. There is a hint of anticyclonic winds intruding parts of West and Central Rajasthan shortly.

Under the combined influence of these weather systems, the envelop of weather activity will shrink over North India. Though, signs of withdrawal of monsoon from Rajasthan are not very strong at the moment but the prevailing situation does not suggest any more bursts of monsoon over the region.  Northern parts of Punjab, Haryana and the foothills will receive light to moderate showers today. Low and medium hills will also observe the similar activity.  Spread and intensity will reduce tomorrow and day after.  National capital also remains under the shadow of least weather activity during the week. Showers where ever, will be of localized and passing nature not modifying the weather condition over the region.

Lack of weather activity will increase the humidity. Limited clouding and windows of sunshine will raise the mercury to 35°C or even more at places over North Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. East Rajasthan may still observe sprinkle of light drizzle at few places, but not adequate enough to raise the comfort levels.
