The long dry spell in Maharashtra came to an end on last Saturday. Maharashtra generally experiences dry weather conditions in the month of February. However, rain and hailstorm marked the last few days of February into March.

Madhya Maharashtra received good rainfall on Monday. The Nashik district witnessed hailstorm, which brought immense damage to pomegranate crops.
This prolonged spell of rain began in Vidarbha on Saturday. The rain belt shifted eastwards during last 24 hours and brought rain in Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada.

Rainfall will continue in Maharashtra for the next couple of days. Places like Ahmednagar, Sangli, Pune, Satara and Kolhapur will receive good showers. In Marathwada, we can expect rain in Osmanabad, Aurangabad, Parbhani and Nanded. Mumbai could receive some rain on March 4.
So far, we have had rains only in pockets but now, the intensity and spread of rainfall will increase. Hailstorm is likely in few parts of Maharashtra, barring the coastal stations.
