Tamil Nadu Rains : Flood woes to continue

Rain in TNUpdated on November 17, 2015:Monsoon fury continues in Tamil Nadu as heavy rain is still pounding the state. More than 14, 000, trapped in debris and inundated houses, have been rescued. According to the latest forecast, there seems to be no respite from the heavy rain which is likely to continue for another 24 hours, reducing in intensity thereafter.

Updated on November 16, 2015: Moderate to heavy rain in Tamil Nadu is expected to continue for another 24 hours after which the intensity is expected to reduce as the weather system is likely to move towards interior parts of Karnataka.Tamil Nadurains have crippled life inChennaiand other parts of the state including Cuddalore.

Under the influence of back to back low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal, Northeast Monsoon has remained active over parts of Tamil Nadu giving heavy to very heavy rain in past few days.

Due to incessant rains in Tamil Nadu, several offices and schools have been shut and Universities have postponed their exams. For instance, the University of Madras and Anna University have rescheduled all exams that were scheduled to be held on Monday. Death toll in Tamil Nadu has also risen to close to 95 as rain continues to batter normal life.

According to Skymet, rainfall is likely to remain active over Tamil Nadu for next three days however with varied intensity. While moderate rain will continue till 17th morning, it is likely to become scattered in nature post tomorrow. There is significant relief likely from rains in Tamil Nadu as the well-marked low-pressure area is expected to move northwards towards Andhra Pradesh.
