Updated on June 25, 2018 09:00 AM: Mumbai rains have once again become very heavy in terms of intensity and the same is expected to continue today as well. The reason for these rains is the active off shore trough which has been extending along the West Coast from Konkan region up to Kerala Coast.

In the last 24 hours, Santa Cruz observatory recorded a whopping 231 mm of rains which has been the heaviest rainy spell this season. During the same time span, Colaba saw 99 mm of rainfall activity.

Rainfall activity with a few very sharp showers will continue throughout the day which may cause traffic congestion, Mumbai local delays and flight delays.

Updated on June 12, 2018 07:00 PM: Mumbai rains continued to remain on the backfoot and weather conditions have now started to become quite hot and humid.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, the city of Mumbai is expected to remain dry and temperatures will continue to rise.

Updated on June 11, 2018 06:00 PM: Mumbai rains have taken a backseat and during the last 24 hours, only light showers were recorded for the capital city of Maharashtra.

The off shore trough which was giving good rains over the city of Mumbai has now weakened due to which rains will be on the lower side for the next few days. However, on and off rains are expected to continue over the city.

Updated on June 10, 2018 11:00 AM: Mumbai rains have been wreaking havoc over the residents of the commercial capital of the country. Life has been thrown out of gear and residents have been praying for a break in terms of rains.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Colaba observatory recorded a whopping 164 mm of rainfall while Santa Cruz saw a massive 100 mm of rains.

Now, on and off rains are expected to continue over Mumbai today as well. Intensity will be light. Thus, intensity will be lesser than yesterday.

After much speculations, Mumbai  Monsoon 2018 has finally set in. Moderate to heavy rains have been lashing  the city since Friday night.  Rains did take a break on Saturday morning but picked up pace again by forenoon hours.

Presently, most parts of the city have been recording heavy rains. Several areas have already been flooded and traffic jams are being reported.

According to Skymet Weather, on and off rains would continue to lash the city today. The weather has been extremely pleasant since last 24 hours. Currently, the maximum temperature in Mumbai is hovering around 27°C.

Updated on June 9, 2018 12:15 pm: After recording moderate rains last night, Mumbai is now bracing for another spell of moderate to heavy rains on Saturday. On and off rains have already being going on over many parts of the city since morning. However, rains have picked up pace now.

Reportedly, three flights have already been cancelled and over 30 flights were delayed in wake of these heavy showers. Local trains are also running behind the schedule by 10-15 minutes.

Mumbai Police has already advised people to take caution.

Updated on June 9, 2018: Mumbai rains began last night at around 1 am and continued until the early morning hours. Moderate spells of rains with isolated heavy showers were observed over the commercial capital of the country. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Santa Cruz recorded 37 mm of rains while Colaba saw 38.2 mm of rainfall. The city is expected to continue witnessing moderate to heavy showers today.

Rainfall intensity is expected to reduce by tomorrow. However, on and off showers will continue during late night early morning. Rains may take a break of about two to three hours during late morning but will commence around the afternoon hours.

Published on June 8, 2018: The much-awaited Mumbai rains have finally made a comeback a few days after the commercial capital endured a long spell of dry days with warm weather conditions. Mumbai rains began as light rainfall activity on the first day of June. Thereafter, rains became slightly intense to the tune of 26 mm.

The first heavy spell of rains was witnessed on June 4 wherein rainfall was recorded to the tune of 51 mm. Thereafter moderate rains were seen on June 6. The last 24 hours saw heavy showers as well.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Santa Cruz observatory witnessed a good 41 mm of rainfall. In fact, Colaba observatory witnessed moderate spells of rains to the tune of 30 mm.

These rains are attributed to a trough which is extending along the West Coast.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, sky conditions are expected to be cloudy during the evening hours. Rainfall activity is likely to begin during late evening hours. At first, rainfall will remain light in nature, increasing in intensity as the night progresses.

Thus, moderate to heavy showers are expected to occur over the capital city of Maharashtra during the night hours. Rains are expected to increase all the more tomorrow wherein moderate to heavy showers are expected to occur.

With increasing rains, Southwest Monsoon is expected to make an onset over Mumbai anytime soon.
