Normal Monsoon conditions prevailed over Andhra Pradesh in the last 24 hours. Therefore, light showers have been occurring over the state. However, now, several places in Andhra Pradesh are all set to receive moderate to heavy showers.
In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Kurnool recorded light rainfall of 10 mm, Nellore 8.5 mm, Vijayawada 6 mm, Tirupathi 4 mm, Ongole 3.4 mm, Cuddappah 3 mm and Anantapur 1.5 mm.
As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh will continue to receive light rains with one or two spells of moderate showers during the next 24 hours. Whereas, Rayalaseema will witness moderate rains with isolated heavy spells during the similar time period. On the other hand, remaining parts of the state will witness light rainfall activities.

These weather conditions can be attributed to the east-west shear zone which is seen extending from the Arabian Sea up to Lakshadweep area across South of the Bay of Bengal and North Tamil Nadu.
However, after 24 hours, the intensity of these rains is likely to increase further over coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh along with Rayalaseema.
As on September 24, the sub-divisional rainfall distribution statistics show that Andhra Pradesh is rain surplus by 18%.
