Kota in Rajasthan breaks all time highest rainfall record in August

The low pressure area lying over South Pakistan and adjoining Southwest Rajasthan has now moved eastwards. It can now be seen over South Rajasthan and adjoining Gujarat region. It is likely to move further towards East Rajasthan.

Widespread moderate rains will continue over the state. Southeast Rajasthan could receive heavy showers as well over the next 24 to 48 hours.

During last 24 hours, Kota witnessed record breaking rains. The city witnessed a whopping 193 mm of rainfall, against the previous all-time highest rainfall of 122.1 mm for the month of August. This was recorded on August 29, 2011.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Pali recorded 24 mm of rain and Mount Abu 34.4 mm of rainfall. Jodhpur and Ajmer also received about 4 mm of rainfall.

Skymet Weather predicts more Monsoon rains for Southeast Rajasthan. East and northeastern parts of the state will also receive good rains.

This year Rajasthan has received extremely good Monsoon rains and the saga of above normal rains are likely to continue for the state. Till August 7, East Rajasthan has received 40% more rains than normal while West Rajasthan has recorded just 1% less rains.
