Rain in Odisha

Intermittent rains have been occurring in Odisha since last many days. Since the span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Cuttack recorded 48 mm of rain, Puri 30.2 mm, Kheonjhargarh 22.4 mm, Koraput 11 mm, Pulbhani 10 mm, Jharsuguda 8.5 mm, Sambalpur 5 mm, Bhubaneshwar 2.3 mm, Paradip and Angul 1.2 mm, Balasore 1.1 mm and Dhenkanal 1 mm.

According to Skymet Weather, a trough is seen extending from a well-marked low pressure area over Madhya Pradesh up to Northwest Bay of Bengal across Chhattisgarh and Odisha. Due to this, scattered light to moderate rains are expected to occur over the state for the next few days. These rain and thundershower activities will follow the typical Monsoon pattern over this region and will occur during the early morning and late evening hours, mostly.

As on July 13, Odisha is rain deficient by 8 percent. Meanwhile, no significant weather systems prevail over the region. So, heavy to very heavy rains are ruled out of this state. However, these on and off rainfall activities will continue to occur over the region but no good showers are in likely for Odisha. Also, we do not expect any prolonged dry spell to persist over this region.
