Kolkata has been witnessing warm and sultry weather for the last many days. All thanks to the prolonged dry spell that has refused to come to an end.
Both the maximum and minimum temperatures have been settling above the normal average by 1-2 degrees. Moreover, due to its close proximity to Bay of Bengal, moist easterly winds have also increased the levels of humidity over the city.
This rise in mercury as well as humidity has resulted in uncomfortable weather conditions. On Wednesday, maximum temperature in Kolkata settled at 28.8°C, while night temperature was 16.6°C.
Rain and thundershowers have remained far and few ever since the beginning of 2017. January ended on a dry note and similar trend followed in February.
According to Skymet Weather, these dry weather conditions are due to the absence of any significant weather system in Bay of Bengal.
Further, similar weather conditions will continue in the coming days as well. Weathermen do not predict any weather system approaching the region. As a result, both the maximum and minimum temperatures will continue to increase.
With this, people of Kolkata will also have reel under hot and sultry weather conditions during the next few days. With this, people of Kolkata will also have reel under hot and sultry weather conditions during the next few days.
